High Bandwidth

Lightning Family

ElemLightning is the generic family name for HGL’s high-bandwidth products which all feature a 10/15MHz Instrumentation grade 16-bit SAR ADC per channel

.HGL has developed several models within the family from the generic Lightning16 to specialised units for Tip Timing and Pyrometry (with Traverse Tower) applications.

In all cases the units can be used to stream digital acquisition data at up to 10/15MHz per channel to a suitablly specified PC system, or for the specialised unit types, can be software controlled into their specialised operating modes with defined output data formats.

Care has been taken to ensure that all models can be used either standalone or as part of a wide HGL (or other vendor) data acquisition system.

Lightning16

A family of general purpose high-bandwidth Data Acquisition Front Ends presented in a 16-channel rack mount format.

Various conditioning options are available.

Sample rates from 250kHz to 10MHz (with extension to 15MHz on application) are provided under software control.

Fully supported by HGL Software Appplications, Network API and LabVIEW drivers.

Lightning32-BTT

Lightning32-BTT (NxBTT32) is a high-channel count Front End specifically intended for semi-rugged Blade Tip Timing operation with optical probes.

The unit presents 28 Laser + Photodiode paired BTT channels together with 4 general voltage channels which can be used for Tachometers or other signals.

The unit fully meets international laser safety standards and provides up to 100mW per laser in 0.1mW steps, fully controlled by software.

The unit includes all standard HGL time synchronisation, power and Ethernet communication methods.

Lightning10-BTT

Lightning10-BTT (NxBTT10) is a Blade Tip Timing Front End system specifically designed for Rugged applications on or close to Gas Turbine Engines, Flight Testing etc.

A family of three units provide either 8 BTT + 2 Voltage channels, 10 BTT Channels or a Base capability providing PoE, IEEE-1588 and storage capabilities.

The units fully meets international laser safety standards and provide up to 100mW per laser in 0.1mW steps, fully controlled by software.

The units includes some of the standard HGL time synchronisation, power and Ethernet communication methods allowing integration with standard systems if required.
