HDR Series Support For Sony SIR1000

HGL Dynamics is pleased to announce that its range of HDR systems can now support the writing to AIT1 tapes in SIR1000 compatible format during acquisition, allowing easy data exchange between HGL and SIR1000 users.

The Sony SIR1000 series of instrumentation recorders is one of the most widespread data acquisition devices in use around the globe today. HGL Dynamics has always supported the SIR1000 by providing software and hardware solutions which can read the tapes from the various SIR1000 and SIR3000 models directly from streamer devices into the HGL suite of monitoring and analysis software.

More recently, HGL Dynamics has supported the direct reading of SIR1000 media in its range of HDR (HGL Data Recorder) machines when an AIT1, 2 or 3 drive is included in the specification.

HGL can announce that it is now able to write SIR1000, SIR1000W and SIR1000i tapes natively from within the HDR system where an AIT1 drive is installed. This support includes all SIR1000 bandwidths, and most of the SIR1000 input ranges (depending on HDR conditioning options). The HDR will also allow users to access the MIC chip in AIT1 tapes for almost instant access to the first 99 tape IDs, and supports the full 999 IDs via the tape Table of Contents (TOC). Users can also inject 'soft' IDs (equivalent to the SIR1000 Index function) through the HDR acquisition screen.

Most importantly, the tapes written through this functionality are completely compatible with the SIR1000 format and can be read in any SIR1000, SIR1000i and SIR1000W intrumentation recorder, allowing easy interchange between HGL customers and SIR1000-only customers across the world.
